Frequently Asked Questions
File Prep for Laser Engraving and Cutting
Please submit your designs in vector format; preferably .EPS or .PDF files, at 100% scale (1:1 proportions). If the designs are not available in vector format, our design services may be required. If the designs are not available at full scale please clearly indicate their proportions. On the layout feel free to reference what areas are to be engraved, cut or scored. We typically use a color coding of BLACK fills for engraving, RED lines for cutting, and BLUE lines for scoring. Please give us as much specific information as possible so that we can efficiently get your project started. If you need any assistance with your file prep please let us know.
Why Do I Have to Submit a Request for a Quote to get a Price for a Project?
With custom work we cannot provide pricing until we have determined what we are making. Design time, files, materials, sizes, quantities, finish work, etc… all need to be factored into the equation. What are we making? Which machine are we using? How big? What material? How many? Once we nail down all of the variables, we can provide a complete cost (or per piece) estimate. A final bid will typically include the following costs:
Setup – Price for everything required to begin your project, including design time, file prep, machine prep, registration, material prep, etc.
Production – The amount of machine time your project will require billed in 1/4 hour increments at our hourly rate OR that same cost divided by your total quantity.
Product – Cost for the needed product
An accurate quote cannot be provided until all of these quantities are known.
What Payment is Accepted?
Cash, check and credit cards are all accepted — with a 3.5% processing fee for credit cards.
